Project PUP Photo Policy

When on a visit and a picture is taken showing the face of a person in the facility, we need to have a photo release form filled out and signed per HIPAA requirements. This photo release rule also applies to photos of children/minors needs to be signed by a parent or guardian of the individual.

A picture can be taken from the back or not showing the faces and you do not need this form. It is very important to protect the people in the pictures and not violate the HIPAA act. These rules do not apply to staff personnel if they provide verbal consent.  If you follow this procedure you may post pictures.

Patients and others may take pictures of you and your dog at your discretion.

Working With Children

Congrats on your certification! It is good for visits with adults. For visits involving children, including but not limited to schools and libraries, there is a secondary evaluation required once you and you’re pup as a team have completed a minimum of 6-months of verifiable visits. This is due to the additional risk involved with children as they can be quite unpredictable. It is also due to the dogs needing to be comfortable with therapy dog work. It’s not for all dogs or handlers. Dogs can behave differently in various settings. Once your dog starts working, you will learn what environments they do best in. We will post opportunities available for the colleges and universities in the area as they are requested. Those you may sign-up for.

If you are interested in going on school or library visits in the future, please let us know and we can put you down as interested. There is currently a waiting list longer than the 6-month period above as the opportunities are rare and there are state regulations that we have to follow for the schools and with the counties for most libraries.

We do have a tracking log for visits that you can use to track and submit visits if you are interested in the schools and libraries. Once completed, we can email you another form or you can make copies before use.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. Project Pup
